Dr. Weiss was Chief of The Retina Service at the Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University from 1976-85. He has more than 30 years in evaluating and treating retinal diseases. He is the author of numerous articles, has lectured widely, and co-authored the book, The Carotid and the Eye.

Born in New York, Dr. Weiss received his B.A. from Yale University in 1964 and his M.D. degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the State University of New York, in 1968. Dr. Weiss took his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Florida in Gainesville from 1972-75 and was awarded a Heed Foundation Fellowship Award for additional training in vitreo-retinal disease and surgery at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Weiss is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, as well as a charter member of the Macula Society.

Dr. Weiss has staff privileges at Straith Hospital and St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital Center.
